Privacy Policy

Effective date: January 1, 2026

Open DB Studio ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

Open DB Studio is a desktop application that runs locally on your Windows machine. We collect minimal information: • Contact form submissions — If you reach out via our website contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), and message content to respond to your inquiry. • Download analytics — We may log anonymous download counts and OS version to understand usage trends. No personally identifiable information is collected during download. • Crash reports — If you opt in, anonymized crash logs (no personal data, no database content) may be sent to help us fix bugs. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any of your database credentials, query results, or data from the databases you connect to. All connections are made directly from your machine.

2. How We Use Your Information

Information collected is used solely to: • Respond to support and sales inquiries submitted via the contact form. • Improve application stability using opt-in crash reports. • Understand download trends to prioritize development. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Cookies & Website Analytics

Our website (opendbstudio.com) may use minimal cookies for session management. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising networks. Basic analytics (page views, referrer) may be collected in aggregate, anonymized form to understand which content is helpful.

4. Third-Party Services

We use Formsubmit.co to process contact form submissions. When you submit the contact form, your data is transmitted to Formsubmit's servers and forwarded to our email. Please refer to Formsubmit's privacy policy for how they handle data in transit. The desktop application itself makes no outbound connections except to databases you explicitly configure.

5. Data Retention

Contact form inquiries are retained in our email inbox for up to 2 years to maintain support history, then deleted. Crash report logs are retained for 90 days, then purged automatically.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to: • Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you. • Request deletion of your personal data. • Withdraw consent for crash reporting at any time (via app settings). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at opendbstudio@gmail.com.

7. Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect information submitted through our website. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. The desktop application stores your database connection credentials locally using your operating system's secure credential store and does not transmit them to our servers.

8. Children's Privacy

Open DB Studio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please contact us immediately.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of Open DB Studio after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
